Putting the Social into Socialism!
Hull and District Trades Council and Engage for Change bring you another night of activism and entertainment… and what a great mix it is this time!
The fantastic Hillbilly Troupe will be headlining the entertainment with their great blend of folk, punk, ska, and Americana – a style that some have termed mucky skiffle!
Folk veteran Bernie Laverick, will also be taking the stage: if you live in Hull and haven’t seen Bernie… now’s your chance!
They’ll both be joined by Hull’s ‘hardest working rapper, apparently’, Marx. Marx has been compared to Tyler the Creator, and he’ll be spitting his expert weave of humour and social commentary in an unmistakable Hull stylee for all the brothers and sisters at Pave.
Very special guest speakers Sarah Duncan and Jay O’Neal will be talking about their amazing victory which saw a 5% wage increase after they shut down every school in West Virginia. The Trades Council feel very proud that they wanted to come to Hull on their way to Durham Miners’ Gala.
They’ll be joined by local speakers including the indomitable Tony Smith from the FCC struggle, and Dave Langcaster, one of the leaders of the action against the disgraceful cuts at Hull College.
Tickets £5 (£3 for students or unwaged) from Hull Box Office…
